about
The Hypochondriac single was the second release from FIRSTOFTHEGIANTS on their own LittleThink label. It was the second recording of the song, committed to tape at Ruby Studios in Bristol by the legendary Rob Williams. The first version was released as a CD-R mini album which is now, unfortunately, sold out. The single cover depicts FOTG's lead singer sitting in a doctor's surgery as many Hypochondriac's will relate to. The doctor walking past is actually the band's lead guitarist. He is not a doctor but he is wearing a genuine doctor's ID badge.
"Channelling the distraught woefulness of The Smiths and polishing them off with rip roaring riffs that glisten with the imposing majesty of Joy Division, ‘Hypochondriac’ is retro indie rock shoe horned superbly in amongst a ragingly uplifting modern panache that electrifies from first to last. Washing over you like a tidal wave of enriching vitality that crashes against Stephen Powell’s disheartened yet strangely vibrant vocals, ‘Hypochondriac’ is lo-fi magnificence colliding head on with pop brilliance, making for a contagious concoction that will have the shoe gazers lifting their eyes from the floor in an instant." - Room Thirteen
